A Look Inside SB1070

Cloee Cooper • Mar 29, 2011

It was August 2010. Senate Bill 1070 just passed in Arizona. Equipped with a video camera and curiosity, a delegation of University students visited the border regions of Arizona to learn more about the enactment of the controversial anti-immigrant law.

According to President L. Davis, one of three students filming during the trip, “Getting behind the camera to capture this story of the immigrant Hispanic population of Arizona and the American reaction will remain one of the greatest experiences of my life. One that I believe will help inspire another generation of freedom fighters determined to see freedom and justice prevail.”

From University of New Mexico, to Bates College in Maine, to Penn University in PA, campuses across the nation screened the film last week as part of an international call to action against racial discrimination.

Campuses across the nation are in a unique position to stand up to the anti-immigrant movement. “A Look Inside SB1070″ is one way campuses are making that happen.
