There Goes the Neighborhood is a weekly series from Imagine 2050 staff highlighting upcoming nativist events.
This week, event in Florida, California, and Pennsylvania.
On Monday, August 28, the Jacksonville chapter of anti-Muslim grassroots group ACT for America will host a lecture by Gene Youngblood in Winter Springs, Florida. Youngblood, a Baptist preacher, maintains virulently anti-Muslim views. He has previously described Islam as the “most vile, wicked, evil danger facing the world today” and has posted a sign at the entrance of his church reading “Islam is evil and believes in murder.” Youngblood has also defended anti-Muslim opportunist Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who made headlines for attempting to publicly burn copies of the Quran and more recently worked at a french fry stand and driven for Uber.
On Tuesday, August 29, the anti-Muslim David Horowitz Freedom Center will host an event featuring prolific anti-Muslim writer Robert Spencer. The event is part of the DHFC’s regular Wednesday Morning Club speaker series. Spencer is currently promoting his latest book, The Complete Infidel’s Guide to Free Speech (and Its Enemies).
Finally, on Thursday, August 31, the Pennsylvania chapter of paleoconservative Eagle Forum will host a dinner in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. The keynote speaker at the event will be Pennsylvania State Senator and 2018 gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner. Pennsylvania State Representative and 2018 U.S. Senate candidate Rick Saccone is also slated to speak.
